Different. Makes me think that while sometimes their scanner fails, it does detect a lot.

Anyone use Panda that could comment on it's resources used?

Well, that's the thing. Going rate is most techs I know of don't use Norton or McAfee, but will use something else. And it's not always freeware...

I can honestly say the people I know would never use it... but they are also higher on the technology scale then a lot of users. Take for example, my IT class. That in itself, is loaded. But a lot of the customers I serve do not run Norton or McAfee... because I've recommended better software to them.

And I can agree with the alternatives bit. Unless you're a power user/ burned by Norton, you tend to use what you're used to. I suppose this is a good thing, but in reality, it's dangerous too. Because if you get used to the speed you get with Norton and the like... when it's removed, you've going to wonder what the heck happened...

I think Norton & McAfee are popular in North America because almost any PC you buy from an OEM has one or the other pre-installed. The average user just pays up once the trial expires.
If it was not pre-installed, their numbers would be much lower.
Mankind hates what it fears, and fears what it cannot understand.
Therefore, hatred is a by-product of ignorance!
