Raymond.cc IRC
I was gonna ask you guys before i set this up, would you like Raymond.cc to have an IRC channel as an alternative to the chatbox.
The benefits are:
- You can access the channel with a client from any part of your desktop through an external application or through mibbit without even having to visit raymond.cc
- It is much quicker than the chatbox, rather than waiting for the chatbox to automatically refresh, it refreshes in real time
- You can put up bots to answer certain requests like requesting to see who is online and it can list them if anyone here has the knowledge to code such a thing
- You can be alerted better on new messages, the chat here doesn't warn you of a new message, most IRC clients can make a little alert or something either in your taskbar or by having a flashing icon or making a noise or beep etc.
The main disadvantage is you can be impersonated by anyone if you haven't registered your nickname, that's all really as the network I would go with if people approve enough for me to make it, they basically mask your IP address so people cannot see it. I'd personally prefer it as i dont' yell as much on IRC
and if no admins are nearby it doesn't matter that much what you do!

Good idea Brayden, I would be the first one to vote a YES!

Raymond reckoned that nobody would go on it if he made it. ircworld is the network i'd go for. they're dutch based but their admin, ShadowM, he's a really cool guy, despite it is all dutch i get an average lag of about 0.5 seconds.
EDIT
I couldn't be bothered waiting for you guys so i went ahead and made the channel. just keep in mind that ircworld blocks mibbit as it can be used to bypass bans, server info is
REMOVED
i'm channel op there but if raymond ever comes and visits i'll op him :P

I am totally against it.
brayden, when you created something with the name "raymondcc", you are using my name to do something without my permission. That's disrespect.

I didn't intend disrespect, and why are you against it? what's so bad about an IRC channel. many places have them and the name was just the name of the site so it only seemed appropriate

@Raymond
Sorry...I thought you had agreed (and discussed it with Brayden)...that's why I said Yes...
@brayden
I can understand why you used the name but you ought to have asked for Raymond's permission before using 'raymondcc' name? Even though you thought it was appropriate, it's common practice to ask the web owner before using his/her site's name for other purposes.

I didn't get his "permission" as i knew he'd be totally against it! I have no idea what's so bad about IRC. it is like the best thing since sliced bread :P and it is just a name! so safeguy you thought this was a great idea a few hours ago since when did raymond's decision suddenly rub onto you? raymond hasn't got the best choices is the world and i am not saying i am any better but I think we should actually try it.

Well you created something that uses my name without my permission. If things go wrong there, it's raymond.cc's name that will be affected, not yours.
Now I do not have control over the IRC channel nor do I want to because I don't have the time to manage that place.

yeah but why dont' you like irc? and i couldn't see much going wrong. it isn't like a forum or anything. most people just say what they want because on most networks that is allowed and even on networks where it isn't allowed you get away with it easily. this is one of those networks that allow almost anything
