    Cool Upgrading to a Mac

I was browsing Gumtree Ireland looking at different PC's for sale and to get a look at the specs and what was on offer and came across this Add although the pc is of reasonable high spec, it at least made me laugh when he said upgrading to a Mac

A friend of mine is thinking along the lines of a Mac as he is considering using Adobe CS5 as his instructors reckon that the Mac is most suited to this type of work...i don't know if this is true but i saw the results of his exam on windows 7 and this looked great to me and no problem for the laptop to run CS5

How many think a Mac is an Upgrade ? i have tried OSX snow leopard for a brief spell, but wasn't that impressed, although it was on VMware on this pc so maybe not a true test,

Even if i had the money i think i would be hard pushed to change, anybody here thinking of changing to a Mac?

To be honest i have never used a mac,but it looks cool.i'm also in a dilemma of choosing between a mac and a laptop(dell,hp,..etc).After reading some articles around the web i can see that the advantage of recent macs with intel processors is that they can run windows, linux but then you are not buying a mac to run windows. The main advantage i think is that the software and the hardware are made by the same company and there should be no compatibility issues. The os upgrade for mac causes far less(about $30) than windows. But u could get great support for windows as it has a large user base.Cost wise a mac definetly costs 15%-25% more than a machine with same specs on dell.I could be happy to get some advice from you people before spending huge sum on machine which could be not worth it.

If it can run Crysis... it can certainly run CS5.

If you want, you can let him find out the hard way how locked down Apple is...

Not sure kv777 if i could give you any advice to be honest, maybe with one or two more replies you can get a better perspective of which to choose

To be honest Paul i gave your argument to him , so now he is not sure one way or the other, i just couldn't choose a Mac over a PC, as kv777 mentioned there is a huge user base for pc's with alot of help and support, some of the Mac users are fantastistic at helping one-another out.

PS "What am I up to?" maybe programing away
