This cup is for you: Team India

    Mumbai, Apr 2 (IBNS)

With tears in their eyes, Team India dedicated the Cup of Pride- the ICC Cricket World Cup- to the 1.21 billion plus nation on Saturday night after a fairy tale win over Sri Lanka to script another sporting history of a cricket-crazy nation ending a 28 year wait.

"This cup is for them. I thank each and every Indian. This cup belongs to you guy. Love you India," said Harbhanaj Singh who burst into tears with the win.

"Chak De! India," shouted Virat Kohli as they all dedicated the victory to India and their very special man, Sachin Tendulkar.

"Winning the world cup is the ultimate thing. It is the proudest moment of my life. These are happy tears. I would not mind crying," said Sachin Tendulkar, the cricketing god.

"It is an unbelievable journey. We did it for Sachin and eveyone in India," said Yuvraj Singh, a key member of the winning combination.

A billion prayers were heard as India after 1983 lifted the World Cup beating a fighting Sri Lanka by six wickets.

The nation erupted in joy as India beat Sri Lanka with a huge Dhoni sixer.

Gambhir scored a brilliant knock of 97 runs along with a crafty and dependable Dhoni (91*) to surpass the Sri Lankan target of 275 runs.

Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh (21*) remained not out till the end.

Earlier, Sri Lanka had scored 274 for the loss of six wickets with Jayawardene scoring a brilliant knock of 103 runs.

World Champions in T20, Test, OneDay,Asia CUp what else?
Man of the Match at the winning Final
finishing touch by a humongous 6er

I'd say Gautam Gambhir is India's knight in shining armour. Hadn't it been for him and Virat Kohli, India would have been eaten up by a monster called Malinga. Speaking of Malinga, it's interesting to note the way he bowls. Not the usual style of a bowler, a slightly angular throw, only to make it much more difficult for the batsman.
