The Space Shuttle legacy

As most of us know, NASA, probably the most famous space agency in the world has ended their space shuttle program. Here is a look back at some of the many memorable moments.

Thanks for posting this news story Student. It is most unfortunate that the Space Shuttle program had to be shut down, but the fact remains, the US can no longer afford it. Our national debt is at over 14 trillion dollars now and will continue to rise because the gov't is unwilling to make the hard choices necessary to cut spending. Some day in the not too distant future we will be forced to default and then America will take its turn as a third world country.

The debt negotiation business is just a farce! All smoke and mirrors. None of the proposals put forth will reduce the debt level or cut spending in a meaningful way. Cutting 900 billion over ten years, when annual spending requires a 1.5 trillion more than revenue coming in from taxes, well you can do the math as well as I can. Some day it will come to a head and then you are right. I am glad I live in Minnesota and in a rural area to boot.

Well looks like a debt ceiling agreement has pasted the House. Off to Congress lets just hope they don't drop the eight ball.

Yes, the President has signed the bill and it is now official. The problem being is that it is just kicking the can down the road and sometime in the future the issue will once again arise, but this time we will be even deeper in debt. It doesn't help that the economy is very weak at best and tax revenues have fallen off a cliff. My country could use some real leadership in its gov't right now, but all we get is partisan bickering. It will be very interesting to see how this all unfolds! Well there, I said my piece and I'll quit ranting now!
