Opinions on Supplements
What do you guys think of supplements? Are they just another snake oil or they do actually work wonder and must co-exist in our diets?
Thoughts are like a never ending ocean where it is deep, endless and dangerous

I take a fair number of supplements myself, and I feel they help a lot. Especially since I am over 50 years old. I prefer using a powdered mix that dissolves in water, because it helps to make the supplements easier to absorb by the body, than in capsule or tablet form.

Of natural food daily is a good natural nutrient found, then it does not need the addition of such supplements. In a sense, supplements not absolutely necessary. Except that malnutrition or because of certain things..

For younger people, you are correct solin, but as a person ages, the body needs more help in getting the nutrients it needs, because it doesn't produce enough from eating a normal diet.

Yes, it can be understood at a certain age may be in need of additional nutrition through supplements as needed for the body and health.

As far as I know most of the time our diet doesn't provide sufficient nutrients according to the RDA/RDI (recommended daily intake/allowance). If we have to take supplements, there are a lot that we need.
So take what you think is important and what you need. For example if you easily catch a flu, take sufficient Vitamin C.

You are what you eat, as the old saying goes. I believe that most vitamins are passed through the body without any benefit whatsoever, but I'm sure some vitamin advocates will disagree with me.
But I do agree with the above quote from Beercat. The body does indeed need a little bit of help as you accumulate the years. (just not from supplements...)

A few years back i worked for a company that supplied supplements to food stores, i was working two tablet presses and a capsule machine, the answer given by the company boss was very similar to Raymonds reply... life style has a lot to do with whether or not you require additional supplements.
Diabetes teaches you a lot about food... i would suggest reading the labels on many packets or tinned food you will be in for a shock... most meals are made from scratch now and not out of tins or packets.
systemError summed it up well with you are what you eat.

The best suppliments would be 50 push-ups every morning and a mug of chilled milk before going to bed. At least that's what I do.
