* When many cultures were only nomadic forest dwellers over 5000 years ago, Indians established Harappan culture in Sindhu valley (Indus Valley Civilization).
* The place value system, the decimal system was developed in India in 100 BC.

In my PERSONAL opinion, God is fair. Indians are smart, but the country is a little unstable, which results in many beggers. That's what I heard, correct me if I am wrong.

That's heaps i never knew that they're so smart. i've had a few problems with a indian call centre when they charged us for broadband!!!!!!!!!!! then my mum cut of the credit card and then we got calls about that all the time, but then we got this call centre blocker thing from the goverment so if they ring they can be fined up to 2,000,000

Ya, the above facts are actually true. Indians are as intelligent as the world.It was we who invented the numeral system.It was Sanskrit (our olden language) from which all the European and Greek language emerged from. Do you know why most of the doctors in the US and the UK are considered good? It is because 71% of the Talented Doctors from India migrate from India to abroad.I don't know why US and UK people dislike Indians. 6 out of 10 of the world's richest persons are Indians. India has some poverty because of some of the greedy persons of Britain who came and looted India for nearly 250 years(I am not blaming the whole UK people,so plz don't take my words seriously). But India is rapidly tackling its problems and I am sure that one day it would be the most civilized country of the world.Long Live India!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes there is a very wide gap between people living below and above poverty line. Some people are so rich that they do not know what to do with their money, some are too poor, they cannot afford proper clothes and shelter. It is very unbalanced. Well if you consider the amount of new knowledge generated per person per day, then India Simply Rocks!

@utkarsh30june: India tackling it properly? Well, if you see the figures, you can see that the gap between rich and poor is increasing day-by-day. If the government wishes, then they can change the whole Indian society, by decreasing the number of people below poverty line, by providing some "Useful" Policy changes by directly benefiting the poor. But it is impossible to do that due to "Corruption", even the people working in the government are corrupted. Some good leaders who can bring the change are 'not active', they just have the status only "in name", and are not really using their political power. Why? 'coz they think that the number of "corrupted" or their critics is more, and they can't tackle with them. So do you think India is gonna progress this way? Well only economical development is not enough.
