Back in the pre-Windows days, programmers needed to write compact code. DOS, by itself, could only address 1 meg of RAM, the only means of delivering programs was a 360k floppy. The first IBM machine to include a HDD was the XT, which came with a 5 meg HD (or an optional 10 meg version).
If a program wouldn't fit on a couple of floppies, people didn't want it. Now that even the 'disposable PCs' come with a gig of RAM, and 60-80 gig HDs, programmers are less concerned with the size of their programs. Some actually think 'bigger-is-better'.
Depending on your machine/configuration, some older programs actually work better than the newer ones. I'm sure some will find the site useful.
Mankind hates what it fears, and fears what it cannot understand.
Therefore, hatred is a by-product of ignorance!
