I mentioned reading somewhere about Windows 7 killing Linux, well I think it was this article:

That's stupid. Linux will always be used. It is popular for webservers because it is faster and free. Other than that damn Windows Server cr@p.
I find Linux to be something different and it is good because it comes with a heap of free and opensource programs.

I doubt it will kill Linux unless they make Windows 7 cheap something like below $150. If it costs the same as Vista did then it won't be very popular.

I think i said somewhere else Linux will not die from this. But Microsoft really needs to improve windows image, like dropping price. They alreay have a nice looking os, but people started hearing that OSes are free.
I even read an article that said some of the bad perception Vista got was because it was so hard to crack. There is a proverb in my country that says when the fox can't reach, it says it stinks. And usually people who use pirated version are a little bit more computer savvy, so they complained to others. and so on. the conclusion of that fun article is that microsoft must decide if they lose 5% of windows income by piracy, to win more on the windows adoption rate and all the software bonuses afterward.

no no, Linux will never die, as all the said ^ things, and i also think that the hackers and crackers' fav.o/s is linux. so it would be very hard to kill linux. It would be easy for win7 to kill xp, more than it would be to kill linux.

Nah! Windows 7 maybe good but not good enough to kill Linux. Linux is extensively used in Networks. It is still the best choice for Servers. And Ubuntu is the best on PCs

Most people I know don't know what Linux is but when they start hearing the word FREE, I am sure they will change over to Linux.
