I began to wonder if it might be price that is keeping it from wide spread adoption. After checking on pricing, $59.95 (as of 9/26/08) is a reasonable price. The only bad thing I found in reviews was its lack of heuristic scanning.

Heuristic scanning: "A heuristic scan is used to detect new, unknown viruses in your system that have not yet been identified. Only some antiviruses can do this type of scan, the majority are only able to detect known viruses."

highly ineffective. it's real time scanning couldn't detect and right click scanning takes too long.

I have been able to download and get the promotional serial from the site mentioned. But I have not as yet tested it because I have already McAfee installed on my computer. Can any one tell whether the pc tools security is good enough in comparison to McAfee. Has any one tested it. Your helps required. Thanks in advance.

I think McAfee is better in all areas except for the firewall but overall is a very good product. I have licences for both PC TOOLS IS and McAfee Virus Scan Plus i use the last.

pctools should be consider as last option ............bcoz takes too much ram and detection & cleaning is too bad.it can campare with free versions of antivirus only............

I'm only wishing for a standalone PC Tools Spyware Doctor free promo. It's all I want from PC Tools.
