Confused A Little Help with Privacy Guardian Please

Downloaded, installed and registered without a hitch. However, when I choose "Settings" under the General tab I have five Black lines with white check boxes. The second box is checked(I assume default)-but shouldn't there be text or description or at least a blank white space within these five "areas" until they're checked? Same goes for "Log" and "Shredder" tabs.Looks like someone used a black magic marker on the line boxes. Can anyone confirm this?-screenshot of yours perhaps? I have Reg Mechanic, have used the Security suite, and I am familiar with PC Tools GUIs-this is not right. Thanks in advance for any help.-Late entry-I found screenshots at Softpedia-this one is whack!

I've had Privacy Guardian on my PC for a few years and though it's probably not actually the best, I've never had any problems. I know that in v4.1, the wash settings are blacked out as you describe. If you hold the cursor over each circle (even though there is no description depicted) it will tell you the value. For instance, the first option, top of the list choice, is valued at ten passes. The second is three, the third is seven and the fourth is 35. Depending on your selection means the amount of washing/overwriting that occurs to make the data to unrecoverable. The Department of Defense uses 3 passes. The National Security Agency uses 7 passes and Guttman is the designation for 35 passes. The level amount selected describes the amount of security you wish your data will be overwritten. The higher the number, the longer it takes to remove the unwanted data. Privacy Guardian is a decent cleaner that I use once a month but CCleaner (freeware) is similarly effective and I've never had a problem with either. Hope that clears it up for you.

I have a free licensed version (4.1) from about 6 months ago. The only blanked out options on my Privacy Guardian program is the number of passes. Settings>Shredder Settings. I have 4.1.0.37.

Thanks. Not that it's a big deal but I'll uninstall and reinstall the program.

    Hi,
    detailer

If you have trouble with Privacy Guardian their another software called PC Tools Desktop Maestro. It includes Privacy Guardian and it is a much stable one. I have one license for you if you want one or I am giving it away.

    Thumbs up computerwis

Why thank you-I'll take you up on that if it's still available. That would be great because I can uninstall Reg Mechanic, and have the benefit of both in one program. Also, thanks to all who responded. Especially those who took the time to provide screenshots along with your comments and suggestions.Your help,as always,is much appreciated.
