    Official Windows Security Essentials Beta

MS beta for Windows Security Essentials has started.
For details, Head over to :
    http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/
You're too busy to spend a lot of time worrying about protecting your PC. With Microsoft Security Essentials Beta, you get high-quality protection against viruses and spyware, including Trojans, worms and other malicious software. And best of all, there are no costs or annoying subscriptions to keep track of.

Security Essentials is easy to install and easy to use. Updates and upgrades are automatic, so there's no need to worry about having the latest protection. It's easy to tell if you're protected – when the Security Essentials icon is green, your status is good. It's as simple as that.

When you're busy using your PC, you don't want to be bothered by needless alerts. Security Essentials runs quietly in the background, only alerting you if there's something you need to do. And it doesn't use a lot of system resources, so it won't get in the way of your work or fun.
Just join MS connect community and you can start using it:

    NOTE:
This beta is available only to customers in the United States, Israel (English only), People's Republic of China (Simplified Chinese only) and Brazil (Brazilian Portuguese only).

So ppl in other areas may have to use a web proxy or you can download it from Softpedia.com ( link in post 3)

    Angry

Trying this right now. Not so happy with the resources it's using...And the initial scan is very slow. I am more worried about the protection to say the least since Windows Live One Care was never very good in that department. I will continue to test it for a few days though.

Is this going to be free even after it's out of beta?

Yes its going to be free .... FOREVER. No nags, subscription ever.

I am surprised about your view view about OneCare. See AV-Comparatives.org results OneCare is now actually better than most. Plus MSE like ForeFront uses Cloud AV capabilities called Dynamic Signature Service (DSS) which increases detection even more. So its a very good Home use AV for free without any hassles.

@Saturnguy62 , Leofelix: You are welcome. Hope the post was useful.

Well, Windows live one care may be decent now, but when it first came out It was worse than McAfee and everyone knows the validity of Mcafee. CRAPPY

@Findingmyzen: Yes, MS OneCare has grown by leaps and bounds. And now they are pretty much in the top draw. The OneCare/Forefront engine is now gold and better than most.

@rnbv424140: Yes this replaces OneCare. As of now MS OneCare is discontinued. Existing customers will still get support but the product is no longer on sale for new customers.
