Perfect Utilities for free (a freeware copy of WinUtilities, a commercial system maintenance software)
Guys, I found this one recently...it seems that a new freeware system maintenance software known as Perfect Utilities is available for download. What is interesting about this freeware is that it is 'almost' an exact copy of WinUtilities.
For those of you who do not know, WinUtilities is a system maintenance/optimization software (shareware) that developed by "YiLong Software". It costs $50 per license and has been given out on Giveaway of the Day several times.
It is also one of dotTech's exclusive freebie which can be found here:
http://www.dottech.org/freebies/dottech-exclusives/4945
(P.S. dotTech is a technology blog maintained by Ashraf, one of our forum members here, and Ashraf is a great Giveawayoftheday programs reviewer. dotTech is also one of Raymond's friends)
As said earlier, Perfect Utilties is an 'almost' exact copy of WinUtilities but it is absolutely free. Why do I say it is 'almost' exact copy of WinUtilities?
Here are the reasons:
Their main similarities:
- Both Perfect Utilities and WinUtilities are developed the same company - "YiLong Software"
- The interfaces are uncannily similar. You can compare them here:
- http://putils.com/content/view/3/5/ (Perfect Utilities)
- http://www.ylcomputing.com/content/view/9/27 (WinUtilities)
- Both have the same features. You can compare them here:
- http://putils.com/content/view/1/3/ (Perfect Utilities)
- http://www.ylcomputing.com/content/view/11/30/ (WinUtilities)
Their main differences:
- Perfect Utilities takes up 20MB disk space while WinUtilities takes up 30MB disk space.
- Perfect Utilities is free while WinUtilities costs $50 per license.
You can read more information at http://dottech.org/freewaresr/8234
(This is my source of information so I must say thanks to Ashraf)
Just for your info:
Perfect Utilities works on 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7

Thanks
Installed it and ran all functions-No doubt it is the the same program from what I can see.I can't find what makes up the two programs size difference though.
There is NO substitute for cubic inches

Thx!

detailer, you could have found it out if you had read everything on Ashraf's article here:

The reason for the ~10 MB difference in disk space usage between the two programs is because the "skins" folder is WinUtilities is ~10 MB larger than the "skins" folder for Perfect Utilities. In other words the only difference between WinUtilities and Perfect Utilities is that WinUtilities has more skins to choose from.
