It has been on the market for one (1) whole day! Kind of hard to do comparatives to anything at this early stage.
And yes, it is free, which probably means it will ship with Win8.

Mankind hates what it fears, and fears what it cannot understand.
Therefore, hatred is a by-product of ignorance!

This launch is wakeup call for all other vendors (especially for those who are not offering at free of cost).

Thank you Ceyfer for those links. Those links, however, are for the Beta (which is probably not that different from the official release). This is a limited, but essential piece of the entire security package. With today's troubled times on the 'web', it probably should have been included with each edition of Windows. It is not designed to be a total security solution, but a basic necessity for anybody wandering beyond port 80.
A nice piece of security (akin to VM, or Sandbox), is that each time you boot up, it creates a 'Restore Point'. Worst case scenario: Yesterday you booted up, and everything was fine. Then you visit a few porn sites, some warez sites, and other 'marginal' sites. Tomorrow you boot up, and later discover that 'something' is wrong with your computer. Just go back to 'yesterday's' Restore Point", and problem solved!
For nOObs, I would strongly recommend this package. For geeks, it is customizable, and for 64bit users, probably fills in the void that KIS and many others leave 'semi-protected'. All in all, I say "Give it a try...it's free...and offers ONE more layer of protection!"

If Europe cannot handle the thought of an OS providing one (1) layer of security to their product, then I challenge Europe to develop their own OS. Ya' know what...the rest of the world does not need Europe...Europe needs the rest of the world!

Yes, Polkadot, we are just what Bush called "Old Europe", right?
Fact remains that so far only the EU tried to curb M$ dominance (after American Companies (like Sun) had filed complaints).

Well enough. Microsoft pretty much owns the OS market share. There are many alternatives to IE, which each one has carved out their own share. Their are many AV products competing for a huge market share. M$ includes a browser...that does not exclude others from vying for a percentage of the market share. IMHO, any proper OS should include a web browser, email client, and at least basic internet security. If they cannot provide those basics, they are not a viable OS. Every time M$ tries to improve their product, the F%^ing EU tries to put them down. If you do not like them, the answer is extremely simple: opt for one of the other OS's out there, and eat your sour grapes.

I don't resent M$ dominating the OS market, but I don't like the way they abuse that position to push competitors out of business. Examples abound. Netscape, WordPerfect etc. Do you maintain that a word-processor is an essential part of an operating system? M$ forbids computer manufactures to sell PC's with other OS's pre-installed, or else they won't deliver theirs any longer. It is illegal, at least in the EU, but what else can these companies do but abide voluntarily? You call that fair competition?
