Professional user : just wait for the final LR version 3.

Please note that the software available in this public beta is not a final release. The product quality and the features are still being developed and completed. Like any beta release, usage of this product carries more risk than using a shipping product. We’ve tested the product thoroughly and do not anticipate serious issues but for critical work, you should rely on the shipping version.
    Known Issues

    • Dragging a single image onto the Lightroom icon from a folder imports all compatible image files in the
    folder
    • When Lightroom is currently running, the new import dialog will fail to launch when a compact flash or
secure digital media card is mounted on a system
    • Exporting a slideshow to JPEG files on Windows may embed the wrong color profile
    • iDVD is unable to burn or encode videos created by the Slideshow module video export
    • Flickr Photosets with “illegal” characters(? / \ | = + etc) will fail to publish
    • Export as catalog to the same directory as the original catalog can fail
    • Only the top image of a closed stack is included in catalog export
    • Keywords cannot be imported from another Lightroom catalog file
    • After an Impromptu Slideshow Lightroom will lose the correct selection in the filmstrip
    • Offline mapped network drives will slow down import on Windows
    • Export to CD/DVD requiring multiple disks will fail after Disk1 on Mac
    • There can be an interlacing issue with some of the video presets final output on Windows
    • Exported H.264 Slideshow video playback on Windows XP and Windows Vista is not guaranteed to
work properly with the default media players available on those operating systems. Please download
the Adobe Media Player to ensure compatibility: http://www.adobe.com/products/mediaplayer/
    • Initial 1:1 loading times in the Library Loupe and Compare view are slower than usual due to the image
quality improvements. An optimized experience has not been implemented in time for this release
    • The luminance slider has been disabled for the public beta to focus attention on the new color noise
    reduction algorithms
If you would like to participate then, go install it, provided you had understood the risks and proceed here|support forum .

Nice find but did you know this is going to expire on April 30, 2010? Nevertheless its a 6 months trial...
The version of Lightroom 3 beta software available for download is offered in English only. You can download the beta and use it until the product expires. The current Lightroom 3 public beta will expire on April 30, 2010.

It's been made clear in the thread title that it's a beta. Maybe this doesn't belong in this forum.

    Generous, indeed.

It comes with a caveat. As you will see in ceyfer's post above, this build is quite a bit of a challenge. You will have to be adventurous enough to take on this freebie. Which is why I have second thoughts about putting this thread here.

Adobe will not waste time or effort to tell anyone whatever I might be of any help to them in particular.

In publicly inviting beta testers, Adobe stand to benefit much from your participation and interaction. Don't be scared. Neither be frustrated as some obviously already are. I don't guarantee against it, but unless somebody can prove it now, your PC won't probably conk out from beta-testing Lightroom 3 beta.

If you persevere and if you're imaginative and creative above par, I'd say Adobe ought to reward you handsomely. In the end, even if all your labors aren't recognized, you'll never lose what you will have learned after six months of rough and tumble in the barely known. That I mean Lightroom 3 beta.

Unfortunately, I did presume that most of us chilling here know the difference between beta (testing) and safe (trial).

    Good luck! ;-)
