Hi,

No, it doesn't; if you update you're stuck with a 30-day trial version of 2009.
Their forum is full of posts about this issue - and the complaints on the giveaway site have forced Chip into replying & explaining that it's a giveaway of v.2008 & v.2008 only, period.
