Changes for ,,Freebies Section Rules,,- Waiting for opinions / suggestions

Hi,
After reading this :

,,Murphy, i believe as the topic title is " Freebies Section Rules - Read this before posting" it is not attracting members to come here and share their views.,, Thanks for the suggestion.

I decided to open this thread to listen to your opinions before making the necessary changes .
I will copy here what I wrote in that post and I expect/wait answers, opinions, suggestions .

Thanks to those who have expressed their opinion.

So, the original post :

Reading in the last days many threads, posts, discussions I have concluded that it needed a few changes here .

So we take them in turn:

1. ''Sticky for Bitsdujour or not ?''

After reading the posts that were not there yesterday I changed my mind a bit and I write here just so ( Anyway .... I finished with this sentence what I thought yesterday ) :

Let's wait until Mr. Raymond will tell his opinion .



2. ''Request and/or Giveaway Invites here''

Reading BTOR's post I thought we should allow posting giveaways regarding invites outside this thread .

Why ? My opinion : because we risk that thread overcrowded considering that members are beginning to offer invites in the form of ,,Giveaway,, .

The question is simple : Yes or Not ?

If you accept .... thread names will change . I hope you will agree that ''Solaris'' . Thank you .



3. Threads .... New threads ( Reposts )

My opinion is that we should set a time limit after which a promotion can be posted again by someone else.

Why? My opinion : because , at least from my point of view, that software suffers many changes in a certain period of time and just bumping up that thread may mislead many , especially if people don't read all posts of thread ( some people read only the thread title and the first post ) .

Now let's see the ''time limit'' . My opinion : 6 months ( For example .... someone open a thread about ''x'' software .... after 6 months someone else can open a new thread about that software ) .

The question is simple : Yes or Not with 6 monts time limit for repost ?

If the answer in ''Not'' .... no problem....we wait suggestions . ( By the way .... My second proposal is 1 year )


4. Members security

a. Not to post ''tiny urls'' , but the original url (in this way we can check them with WOT and Mc Afee SiteAdvisor);

b. Not to provide direct download link from untrusted sources ( like megaupload, mediafire and other free P2P hosts) unless you ask Mr. Raymond or moderators to be allowed to do so.

Why? Because we can download software from software houses web pages or from Filehippo, Fileforum, Oldversions, Majorgeeks, Softpedia, and P2P hosts often contains malware.

Again , the question is simple : You agree with these 2 suggestions ?


So we expect answers, opinions, suggestions .
I would like to be a friendly conversation, decent .... just like before . Thank you guys .

All in all, a reasonable breakdown of the Freebies sticky into clear and useful sections, imo. I read the Please Read when I first visited the site, but that's my habit. Others may not care to do so; it's everyone's choice.

I don't see anything to add to the categories outlined.

P.S. I'd like to add another thing - I think it's a good idea to tell others that Norton OEM promos/links are not allowed to be mentioned here in this forum as "Raymond got hit with a warning last time"...it would be fair to put that into the Freebies Section Rules...

I disagree as that would be putting too much into the forum. It should be a subsection of Freebies if anything.

As to murphy and your points:

1. No. I don't think they're worth promoting here.
2. I'd rather they all be in one place myself.
3. 6 months is fine.
4. D.U.H. Should have been a rule long ago.
