I didn't have a reason before, but one just popped up.
My mother-in-law (75) wants to learn how to surf, get and send email on a computer. I got her a netbook, running windows CE. It turns out the netbook is sloooooww! She has to wait so long between interrupts, se can go to the bathroom before a page changes.
So, I said being the hero son-in-law, "I have an old P4 winbook with a dead battery and a crashed hard drive. If you buy a hard drive, I'll get it up and running om AC power for you and it should be fast enough."
Lo and behold, the hard drive arrives, I go to do an XP professional install (what the winbook is licensed for), and the only XP disk I have is a media edition. Will not certify. Checked with MS, no help there. Called Winbook support, "Oh that old computer, we don't support it any more, thank you, goodbye."
So, I need a copy of XP Professional, or my name changes to mud. I'd buy one, but I can't afford it, and I won't steal a copy.
Help!??

Thank you for the share. I still find XP very stable and simple to tweak.
Although I like Win 7, I have some older hardware that just isn't supported.
Think I'll have a go at this one and be Legal.
