Stopping a save file
Hi,
I don't know what to put for the title so I choose the closest.
My friend is sick and tired of her brother dumping all his videos in her lap top. He treats her lap top like a store room. She can't lock her lap top as her mother sided with her brother. She said, she won't throw away his junk is she is too nice.
Is there any way to block him from doing that? Any softwares? Any illegal ways (PM me this). She doesn't care is it legal or illegal. All she wants is to stop her brother from dumping his stuff into her lap top.
She is running Windows Xp.
thanks in advance,

2 things I can recommend off the bat:
1) Give him a limited account while she remains in admin control of the PC. This will make it so that if he saves too many files, she can lock his account or even better, if I remember right with XP and Vista, you can limit their amount of HDD space.
2) She could demo DeepFreeze, which makes it so if you don't know how to turn it off, if you save a file, it's deleted the next time it reboots. I'm aware she doesn't want to delete his files, but if he's constantly doing this... it might get him to think twice. And as a nice plus, if he wants to keep the files, he'll have to go though her, meaning she then controls the PC again.

1. She can't lock him out or her mother will ask her to open up her lap top for him to dump more things.
2. Is that wise? What if she were to to save the file and then gets deleted the next time she reboots? May I have the link please?

Microsoft also had one for free.

Like I said, she can also limit the amount of HDD he can use. This wouldn't lock him out, rather make him wiser, I'd hope.

What she should do is save to a USB so it doesn't do that, or set up what's called a 'Thawspace' where she could save everything she wants without getting it deleted, and not tell her brother. As for the link, it's right here.

that's the best idea given in the whole thread.
