PowerArchiver supports all RAR ZIP and UHA but it's shareware.

    I prefer winRAR... Heavy duty!

I use it for ZIP and RAR files.

I download a lot from rapidshare, and RAR is the choice for splitting and password protecting large files.

In Raymond's recent article, he mentioned a nice tool for bulk extracting RAR files (even if they are split, and password protected), which includes a password-list for guessing the passwords etc... jDownloader has such a plugin, great tool for downloading from rapidshare.

7-Zip is an alternative free tool for doing so, however when it comes to RAR, it can only unpack to it. See here for details: http://www.7-zip.org/

WinRAR may as well be freeware. It asks for you to register but you just close a prompt and you can use it, plus it's easy as heck to get around paying for it.

Perhaps Raymond didn't know of it? You've got to rememeber, he's human. He doesn't know every program out there.

Honestly I have both 7-Zip and PowerArchiver. Reason I installed 7-Zip is because I updated PowerArchiver to the latest version and there's no cr@ck for it. The trial version of PowerArchiver is hella annoying.

I am spending more time in 7-Zip before I start recommend but so far so good. It's fast and lightweight. PowerArchiver has started to become bloated.
