How to format HDD by XP bootable CD which has linux ?

I have installed red hut linux enterprise on my system. I have also installed windows xp service pack 2. But now I want to format my pc. When I try to boot the windows xp using bootable CD then it boots it but do not go to the installation page.. It shows the blank black screen. How could I do format my system?

That's odd. You should be able to boot from the XP cd. Are you sure that the XP cd works. Check it in some other computer.

And if you can get hold of some boot cd like HIREN's BOOTCD, then use it to format you HDD and the run the XP installation.

If you use Linux you should be able to Run Live CD of Linux, and these days most of the Linux support formating in NTFS or FAT.

As Far as your installation is concerned, you must have a scratch CD/DVD.
