    Which Defrag You Recommend?

I need a very good defrag software that is light and works very well without messing up memory. I have tired Diskpeer, Raxio and others but they are memory hungry.

If you have any good please suggest me. Please keep in mind that the download size should not be too much.

    Thanks!

Try IOBIT's SmartDefrag. It is a decent software. (But a note of caution - I don't use it as it once messed up my system, but then there are thousands of users using it happily).

I currently use Piriform's Defraggler. It's good and best it allows to defrag a single file or folder. But it is not as advanced as SmartDefrag.

I've heard JKDefrag is light and good. But I've never used it.

And lastly if you have lots of free time, nothing beats Windows Defrag. It takes a long time to do its job but it does it well. And best it'll never wreck your system. It's absolutely safe.

I've been using Auslogics for about a year, and really like it. It's fast, free, and also allows the defragging of single files/folders:

    http://auslogics.com/en/software

EDIT: The file size is under 5 megs. It also allows you to set it's speed (3 settings), so you can zap through your disk quickly, or have it running in the background while you are doing other things with your 'puter.

There is some debate, however, as to the advantage of using any of the any free tools versus simply using windows XP’s own Defrag utility, which is based on the Diskeeper engine.

    Smart Defrag
Smart Defrag not only defragments computer deeply but optimizes disk performance. With 'install it and forget it' feature.
    http://www.iobit.com/iobitsmartdefrag.html

    It has three options
    1)Defrag
    2)Defrag and optimize
    3)Deep Optimize

    What's new

+ Improved disk map and color legend
    + Added "Fast Optimize"
    + Fully supported Windows XP/Vista 64bit edition
    * Fixed general bugs

This defragmentation process works whenever your computer’s resource utilization is under 20% (a threshold which can be changed in the program settings). SmartDefrag provides you with status information on current disks fragmentation rate, and with methods to defrag all disks immediately.

Thay claim that IObit SmartDefrag has the fastest defragment engine in the world and finishes the job just in minuts. Well depending how big is the hard drive.
As they say Slow down, freeze-ups and crashes will be a thing of the past.

Smart Defrag rocks. One of the first things I put on whenever I come into contact with a system.

I'm using Smart defrag just install and forget it. It's just defrag your harddrive when your computer is idle so i don't care how long i will run it
