Windows 7 Official Release Date

Windows 7, the next major release of the world's most popular operating system, will be officially available to the public on 22 October.

Microsoft is hoping it can avoid the negative press that surrounded the launch of Vista, the last major Windows release, almost three years ago.

Windows 7 has been designed to be compatible with Vista so users do not have to invest in new hardware.

Customers who buy a new PC with Vista will be offered upgrades to Windows 7.

The free upgrade offer will probably be for anyone buying a new PC beginning in July or later. However, Windows7 RTM is expected in July, so that offer would probably only help a handful of buyers.

Windows 7 is far lot better than Vista. If you have high end computer, you can't feel the difference between XP and 7.

I'll wait and see what the feedback is on this first,although I've read it's definitely better than Vista.Perhaps it's price tag will keep me using Vista

Heard Windows 7 is way better than Vista but the price tag will be higher than Vista as well. Time to save up some cash
