    DDR2 533mhz and 667mhz compatibility

    Installing DDR2 533mhz and 667mhz together problem

    config : Intel D102 GGC m/b (max 2gb ram, 2 ram slots)
    Kingston 512mb pc2-4200 (533mhz)
    Kingston 1gb 667mhz
    Black xp OS

I used these together erlier n they worked perfectly together giving the systtem 1.5 gb ram,
but i had to take out the 1 gb ram for testin purposes on my new pc,
and now when i put it back together sometimes it doesnt boot or nothing shows up on the screen and sometimes it boots up but only 512 ram is detected, then i removed all the ram n put th1 1gb n it works, same thing with the 512 the problem occurs wen i put both together it loads only 512 ram.....
ithink ther is some thing to do with the chipset settings
    some one please help me

    Edit:
i also checked www.crucial.com for more details n couldnt find any settings to be done

I just added some ram recently after a lot of research and advice from this forum. You should always have matching Ram.Understanding that your combo worked before,I know this-the 667 is "backward compatible" with the 533, meaning all the Ram will operate at 533mhz.The other thing I learned is to make sure the larger of the two be installed in the first available(or primary) slot, otherwise it may not be detected, which will leave you worse off than you were before.I am not aware of any "settings" to address this problem.Crucial has great tech support from my experience.I'm sure you can get live chat even on Sunday.Best of luck.

yea it worked last time when i did that,
it automatically clocked down the 667 to work at 533mhz, n it worked perfect.
but now when i do that nothing happens, nothing turns u on the monitor either,
    i dunno y?

yea im lookin for some good explaination on it n how to do it correctly, i mean like without doing it blindly. trying out a new sequency until it works :0

But still the 512 n 1gb doesnt go together now
when i put the 1gb in slot one it says 1gb mem,
but wen i plug the 1gb to slot 1 n 512 to slot 2 it says 512 mb memory y?

    ok problem solved
    i figured it out,
you have to fix the ram with the largest size in the first slot, then fix the smaller one in the next slot, and then yu have to restart it a few times like about 3 times so the cmos gets reset n the it detects the two rams and it clocks the 667mhz 1gb ram down to 533mhz n now it works perfectly like it was.
    thanks for the help
