That's generally needed when you want to play games.

Every PC does. Some of them are onboard video cards. The OEMs do this since it's cheaper.

    Hi
First use pcwizzard in order to find if your motherboard support AGP graphical cards or PCI express graphical cards. Then choose either one. Note if your motherboard can support 2 or 3 graphical cards then you can buy 2 or 3!!!!!!!!!! lucky

Also if you want to play high resolution games then you need a graphical card that support at leats Direct X 9.0/9.0C. Now vista support DirectX 10!!!

You have Nvidia drivers and also ATI drivers for games and video.

If you didn't have a video card, there would be nothing on your screen/monitor. Whatever you downloaded probably needs a different kind of v.card, more memory on it, or some other 'requirement'. Read the message carefully, as if that is the case, they most likely say what type of card you need for that particular application. If you're running a laptop, there's not much you can do about it. Otherwise, you can go out and buy whatever card they require...how much do you want/need to run that app?
