That sounds great.Hopefully they'll have the bugs worked out of it just as MS no longer supports XP-my prayers are answered.

It's a direct threat from Google but it would take years for them to capture a large MS Windows userbase ~
Windows 7 will be the best option for me - for Xp it's a natural death but still the best OS for me no bloat compare to Vista

It will be primarily targeting netbooks at first, but will spread upwards to the desktop, and downwards to phones, etc. While I am not a Google fan, (even though gmail is my 1st mail choice, and G-search is my primary search eng.), I believe that they can probably get it right. It will probably not put a dent in business users, but most home users could benefit from a simple, and safe OS that is reputed to be aiming at almost instantaneous boot, log on, gmail, etc. For 80% of home users, it will probably be more than enough. It will be free, and it will work seamlessly with other Google products. But be prepared to see Google ads pop-up no matter where you go...even writing a letter to Mom!

Google has the power and resources to do it Polkadot.
Right now let's just observe and see what are the advantages and impact of MS and Google OS wars, competition makes more innovation and surpass the limits of today's technology. Good luck to both of them

No doubt that Google has the power/resources to do it. I believe that they will kind of follow the old AOL policy of 'aiming at the masses'. It worked for AOL until dial-up ceased to be the best option. Google is much smarter than AOL ever was. They are constantly looking towards the future, not just resting on their laurels.
If they wanted to hurt Firefox, they could, but it is not in their best interests, so they won't. Having Firefox in the picture helps them more than it hurts them.

And I guess I'm the only one here that's heard of gOS, something very close to what you might be talking about

May be workable, but Google has the clout to wipe out damned near anybody they want to. What would happen to Firefox if Google were to quit writing those $38,000,000 checks to them for 'Royalty Fees" every year?
