Doubt on Maximum RAM to be installed

Hi,
I am having Intel D945GCPE motherboard abt it has 2 slots for ram . When i was browsing intel website i found that it can handle Maximum 2 Gb memory.

My questionis:Is 2 Gb maximum ram is for per slot or of total??/

If it is total 2Gb Memory ram, Is it is advisible to use A Single 2GB RAM or Two 1GB RAM???

Usually it would be 1 gig per slot.

Better use two 1gb ram instead of using a single 2gb.
