Problem with opening email attachments
Hi everyone, newbie here.
Im driving myself crazy trying to find a solution to open up my hotmail attachments. Never had this problem b4. Have re-signed in, always have ticked "remember me on this computer" but no success. My hubbies hotmail attachments open so if someone can assist I would be very grateful.
Thanks

Can you give us more details on how are you not able to open up attachment in hotmail?

Sounds like something in your security 'suite' is stopping you. Go to 'Options", "Settings" or whatever your programs call it. Check to see how they are configured. Some do not allow opening attachments as the default.

Are you using Hotmail or Firefox?

Im using Hotmail.
I have another hotmail account and I can open my email attachments in that acct. So I can only now deduce that there is a setting that needs to be cancelled somewhere in my hotmail account. I did search for what Polkadot kindly suggested but didnt see anything specifically stating allowing/blocking attachments. Hope this info helps

Sorry I was trying to ask if you are using "Internet Explorer" or Firefox :P
Can you tell me what is the "exact" error message do you get when you cannot open the attachment?

I use Internet Explorer. There is no error msg when I click on the attachment. It doesnt register. When I right click the attachment and click on "Open" - nothing opens.

Try this. On your Internet Explorer, go to Tools at the menu bar and select Internet Options.
You should be the General tab now.
Click on the Delete button for Browsing history, check Temporary Internet Files, Cookies and click Delete.
Now try logging in to your Hotmail and see if you can open attachment. If still doesn't work, again go to Tools, Internet Options.
This time go to Advanced tab, and click the Reset button. Click Reset button again.

Raymond, I did exactly what you suggested above and when I went to open email attachment, nothing opened however what did appear was this line of green lights appearing at bottom of email which appears as tho the attachment is trying to open but is not getting any connection to the source? Hope this helps.
I just noticed that on bottom left hand corner the javascript comes up and then disappears and the word "done" appears after the line of green coding goes off.
