    Sata Raid Driver help please

I have got the "set up did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer message" whilst trying to re-install XP on a Samsung 500GB drive.
I have read the very helpful tutorials [thank you] - but I can't identify the right driver to add during the installation process. The board is MS-7131 Ver 1.0 and I can only find LAN / Vga / sound drivers on the MSI website and elsewhere.
I have tried generic Viaraid and ATI drivers but these do not solve the problem.
I have tried other drivers too without success.
I don't have an option re Sata in the BIOS.
I think the board is Intel 775 socket. 915GLM-V chipset. [If that helps]
The BIOS version is Pheonix Award 3.0J from May 05 [yes that is old !] - can I do anything with this - ie update to a version where I could sort out the SATA problem - even though I don't have an operating system installed ?
Any help and advice much appreciated. I am a willing amateur at all this. Thanks very much.

you need to ether 1 put the drivers on a floppy ,2 create a xp cd with drivers included with nlite

via raid drivers http://www.mediafire.com/?1emqwjemmfn these are mine ,extract these to a floppy ,boot from xp cd ,press f6 to load drivers ,when prompt press S and select xp driver

Perhaps there is something else going on here...
Firstly - thank you for your prompt help.
I tried putting them on a Floppy and F6'ing but it didn't work. Could I be doing even this incorrectly ? [I extracted the files to a folder and dragged them over to the floppy].
I have then used nlite following the instructions on this forum to burn a CD with the SATA files integrated.
However, part way through the installation process I get the following error message "File\i386\ntkernlmp.exe could not be loaded. The error code is 7".
This I believe means either faulty memory [I ran dos based memory scanner test - and it passed] or a faulty BIOS.
I have reset the BIOS to default but get the same error message.
    Any suggestions ?
Any and all thought most welcome.

    Hi

Choose a driver scanner such as driver genius and let to find the missing driver.

    or try driver forge

    http://sourceforge.net/projects/driverforge/files/FindHWIDS/v3.2j/FindHwids.v3.2j.exe/download#

    Practicality
    - Give a family member or friend a CD/DVD/USB stick with every driver they could ever need. Create an autorun.inf to automatically run and install all drivers from that removable drive on their computer.
    - IT folks can use it post-imaging to install the rest of the drivers they didn't want to install pre-imaging. Especially helpful to install drivers from a mapped location.
    - Download the latest drivers from all the manufacturers for your machine. Point the program to install drivers from one location and hit Start!

if its bad memory you would get a different error on a different file every time when installing windows

ok step by step ,1 extract the files in raid drivers rar to floppy

    2. start pc with windows cd in and boot from it "make sure floppy is out"

3 soon as u get the blue screen of the windows install u will see at the bottom press f6 to install third party drivers "or something simlar" insert floppy then

4 when prompted press S to specify device ,then it shold read from floppy select xp and hit enter..

Appreciate the trouble you have gone to in explaining this and the screen prints - however this is exactly what I have done without it working for me.

I really appreciate your help with this - but I am stuck.
Neither of these methods have worked for me. I have created an XP disk with the additional drivers - but my hard disk is still not recognised.
In the BIOS I do have Sata devices config - currently set to Enhanced Mode - and the drive is visible as Sata master [the other options are Disabled; Combined; Sata only].
If I set SATA only - my drive shows up as IDE Master but I have no DVD drive. In the other options the drive does not show up in the BIOS at all.

Would there be any benefit to sticking the drive in another XP machine and doing a Format ?

Any advice ? Thanks to all.

Had an old ide drive sitting at the back of a drawer - so have put this in and loaded XP onto that and will go from there.
Will update once I've sorted it all out. Thanks everyone.
