i'm starting to like more and more of chrome as more extensions are available and user scripts are very easy to handle.
as for the memory problem if you're using dev release (perfectly stable, don't worry), you can start chrome with purge memory argument... and use it whenever necessary.
for me memory usage is not a big hassle.

Do you know of any good compatible ad-block for chrome?

I've tried Google Chrome Dev release but 2 days back, I've uninstalled it. It's fast no doubts but I'm more used to browsing the web with certain Firefox-only add-ons.

True, there's WOT for Google Chrome now and there's always AdSweep as an alternative to AdBlock Plus (although AdBlockPlus is much more superior) but how about VideoDownloadHelper, Downthemall, CustomizeGoogle, Tab Kit, and lots more...

Google Chrome seems like a 'bare-bone' browser to me...it's new and fresh but just incomplete...it's just a 'naked' version of Firefox...good to look at and use once in a while but for daily use, I'm better off with my 'wife' (Firefox)...
They call me the mysterious one...
my motto is...when it's hot, chill baby

i started using adsweep like safeguy, but i didn't like it bcoz it was too agressive and no customization available.
then i tried a combo of [url=http://www.chromeextensions.org/?p=321]adblock+, with easylist subscripyion and [url=http://www.chromeextensions.org/appearance-functioning/flashblock/]flashblock and i'm happy with it.
it gets the job done, but adblockplus for ff is superior.

a good resource for chrome extensions located in
    http://www.chromeextensions.org/
downloadsquad also published an interesting article on extensions, userscripts and bookmarklets for chrome

Nobody could replace Firefox, but i don't see why Google release new versions of Chrome so much, I get new updates for it like every 2 days, it has taken Firefox 5 years to get to 3.5 stable, Google Chrome has been out about 1 year and has a v4 beta..
