Need a small freeware
My ISP's DNS servers go down all of a sudden. This is royally annoying while working on the internet. So, can someone suggest a freeware which may be able to ping the DNS server's address at regular intervals and notify me if it goes down/up?
P.S. I already know about OpenDNS, so don't suggest that. Also, if it's possible to do the above tasks via a batch file or make an app in Visual Studio, please explain about that as well....

Thanks for the reply, but I already know about this command. However, I actually have to switch to its window and check the status. What I'm asking for is there any software which will display the status in the system tray or give a notification that the server is currently unreachable.....?

If you use Google Desktop, they have several free gadgets that show the status of various sites.

Why not use the Ubiquity add-on with Firefox, and use it's ping command? Yes it opens a new internet tab.. but it's still an idea, no?
