Explorer.scf problem
I've been googling a solution for two days now but still couldn't find a solution.
Everytime i click explorer.scf an error msg appears saying that [I]explorer.scf is not associated with any program[I] and that i must associate it with something using the folder options control panel. I find this weird because the .scf in my computer is associated with the windows explorer command. I even used the cmdline to verify it. I also check the entries in explorer.scf and found no errors. I also check the registry but couldn't find anything that mgiht cause the problem
Btw, Showdesktop.scf and explorer.exe works just fine.

never encountered that file but try checking its address parameter

I suspect it might be a leftover by virus as I couldn't get this file in my vista machine. Do you install any third party tweaking/docking software?

explorer.scf is legit dude. In Windows XP its located in in %systemroot%\WINDOWS. By default you cant see .scf extensions. It works like explorer.exe but its window pane doesn't open in My Documents. There are tweaks for explorer.exe so that it would behave like explorer.scf but its just really bothering me that explorer.scf is not working while other .scf files I havae work
It was working perfectly fine until i installed jv16 powertools. I haven't use the program yet when the problem occurred.

I think i have the answer to your problem. this scf file is basically the link to the explorer shortcut in All programs>>Accessories.
so all you need to do is access the properties of explorer in the All programs list and change its target field under shortcuts tab to "%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe" minus the quotes.
that should do it but if you still have problems try changing the start in field to "%HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%" minus the quotes
I think that should do it. Hope its helpful.

Sorry, but the explorer.scf is not a link to the explorer shortcut found in the programs menu. It is a windows explorer command file

I know that explorer.scf is a windows explorer command file. what i meant was that the explorer shortcut found in the programs menu uses it as a link and thats the place you can encounter problems relating to it.
If nothing else works, open command prompt and type 'del C:\Windows'

the problem still remains

Open the explorer.scf file with a text editor such as notepad and check if this is what you see.
[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,1
[Taskbar]
Command=Explorer
