    Do you guys use a codec pack?

    Do you guys use a codec pack?

    I'm asking this because I don't...in fact I have not found the need yet as VLC plays almost all types of files I throw at it...

    And I've been reading lots of conflicting (and different) opinions on the use of codec packs...some say it's good while others recommend you to avoid it.

    For example, read this:

    Why Codec Packs Are Bad (HowToGeek)

    And if you do use a codec pack, which one do you use? I know of these ones:

    * K-Lite Mega Codec Pack
    * K-lite Codec Pack
    * Vista Codec Pack
    * XP Codec Pack
    * Combined Community Codec Pack (CCCP)

    K-Lite seems to be the most 'popular' among codec pack users but I want to know which one you find the 'best' (that is if you use a codec pack lol)...throw in your opinions here...
    They call me the mysterious one...
    my motto is...when it's hot, chill baby

    I've tried KM Player but I didn't really like it. I'm better off with VLC media player and some skins to make it look nicer...

    Back to topic, anyone here uses codec packs?

    No, I don't. I use: Foobar2000 for audio files, DivX 7 and QuickTimes 7 for video files.
    I do not know much about English. Sorry if I wrote the wrong words or grammar.

    I used The KMPlayer back in the day, it was a good program then.

    Then they updated.

    It now slows my PC in every way.

    AIMP2 and VLC is my present choices for Windows, for Linux, Audacious and VLC.

    I've never seen a format one or the other won't open.
