Learn to Build a Computer Online!

Found this site. IM LOOKING AT IT MYSELF. It looks really good thought I would let you know it.

    http://www.buildyourowncomputer.net/step1.html

Good luck to learn about this!

This was made in 2001 so it might be a bit out of date.

Pretty basic. If you didn't know this to start with, you probably aren't ready to build your own. But then again, it is simple...go for it and build THE computer you want, at a lot le$$ money than everybody else wants for the computer you didn't want. A "Store bought" version will have components that you will want/need to upgrade anyway. Why not just start off with what you want to finish up with! Those left over pieces you replaced are worth next to nothing if you want to sell them.

I use that site to help newbies....

fairly clear pics of components, so when you tell someone to connect something, or replace a cable, they can see what the thing looks like...

just goes to show that even dedicated sites can be 'multi-use'

got a whole swack of links similar to that... simply as a teaching tool

I've never built a computer myself...and so far I've never bothered doing it. I'm the type of person who prefers to buy ready-made ones...simpler and peace of mind. But of course, they aren't cheap...

Another option is to but 2nd-hand PCs...less $$$ and less time needed as compared to building your own...and yeah less satisfaction of course.

If you've got the time, and you're a risk-taker...building your own PCs is a great idea. Not for me though

Depends on where you're from from. The best buys here (USA) are probably not good to you, considering shipping/VAT (Sales Tax), etc. Ask around the forum, and identify your region...your time zone says Peking/Hong Kong/Perth/Singapore...etc. The decisions where to buy obviously would vary depending where you live within that large time zone.

I likely would never have built one myself if I had started in computing today - but back in the 'good old days' when systems were so expensive, I got started by taking parts off old systems, fixing what I could, and rebuilding for others, seemed like there was always a child or adult without a system who could not hope to afford one, who would make use of a good basic working system.

Along the way, I learned a bit...

In my case, computing is a case of 'a hobby gone mad' - and I'm still at it, 30-some-odd years later...
