new install of XP, can't get wizard to install good drivers for audio, video "other"

I just installed a new copy of XP Pro on a 500GB hd. the HD has a good working W2KP os on partition 1. everything works on this. On partition 2, where i installed XP, i had to find a good ethernet controller driver, located in the logic board ASUS drivers site. that got the internet working.
but i cannot get good drivers loaded for these "other" devices:

audio device on High Definition Audio bus,
    SM Bus controller,
    Video Controller,
    Video Controller (VGA Compatible).

I've tried upgrade, reinstall etc that the wizard can search for--it can't find drivers to fix these. I have no CD loading disk for these; lost or misplaced my ASUS logic board CD too.
my problem is finding the right drivers to load--they will be drivers that work with XP Pro and the mobo is an ASUS P5QL-EM.
i'm reading raymond's info about how to get a complete list of drivers on a CD and let the machine search thru them to find the right ones.
making that kind of CD and using the DriverPacks is kinda intimidating, if someone can help me find a faster way to get to my device drivers.

--keeping in mind i have the single hard drive partitioned with two bootable OSs,
a secondary issue is that--when i try to download any drivers, or their binary files, the XP download runs at length, but fails with zero bytes; when i "recycle" that file in the download window, it shows a progress bar as it "loads", but when i try to open it, it's in the Downloads folder, as zero KB size--and i get a message always, that says:
Windows cannot access the specificied device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.
    NOTE:
this XP OS boots, from Admin, has no users, no password needed for it to launch the OS. so there isn't a "higher" admin level than this.
maybe there's a problem if one hasn't created at least one User??? who knows? or maybe the fact of having W2K on drive C causes the XP on drive D not to be able download off the internet?
I solve this problem by downloading these needed files onto a flash drive and installing that way--and it always works. it's as if the Download program on the XP simply doesn't work, most of the time--on things i really need, that is.

i am hoping this note gets to Raymond, as i wait for his "Live Help - Offline" to go online. who knows if that will happen this year!

at this point i assume replies to me will come to my e mail, or somehow i'll be notified that they are here, on this forum's pages. right?

thanks for any help on this --

Of course. You are do not have the require driver.

Read this. And Download DriverPack Solution 9 Professional

    Download Location http://drp.su/get/659/
    Password : ofhe4uvg

    Size of file is ~1Gb.

    1. Afer finish downloading, make a new folder eg. DriverPack Solution 9 Professional
    2. Extract to that folder.
    3. After that, download a 5 mb file to "update" the Driver Pack. The file can be found http://drp.su/get/659/
    5. Extract taht file to the same folder.
    6. When windows ask do you want to replace the files, click yes.
    7. Double click start.cmd
    8. Change it to English (follow how raymond does it).
    9. It will find the require driver for you.
    10. Click the smart install or something like that (the icon which looks like a sun)

That is all. You should have your drivers back.
Thoughts are like a never ending ocean where it is deep, endless and dangerous

Alright, let's do it this way. Boot into your Windows 2000 partition, and download the files from the links below. They are straight from the Asus site and I have uploaded them for your convenience.

Audio (should take care of audio device on High Definition Audio Bus): http://www.mediafire.com/?mynmwgo2wll
Video (should take care of both video controllers): http://www.mediafire.com/?lmwniyczjno
Chipset: (should take care of SM Bus Controller): http://www.mediafire.com/?kinjw2nhj0g

Remember where you save the files. For convenience, save them to the C:\ in Windows 2000. Then, boot into your Windows XP partition. Then, find your Windows 2000 partition in 'My Computer'. You should be able to find the files there.

thanks, reply back to NinjaRicer--download video drivers to XP

thanks much for that researched set there. i haven't gone beyond reading your note, but i see what you've done.
you saved me the search on ASUS site for the exact files, if yours are indeed the exact drivers i need.
that was going to be my approach--trying ASUS as the first place that might have drivers that go for ANY part of their P5QL-EM logic board. i'm an amateur so i don't trust my logic thoroughly; for instance i note that the video port is in fact a part of the logic board . . . so the driver must be a "fit" between the ASUS board and (in my problem case) a new install of XP.
after all, the same video sector of the logic board works perfectly with the installed W2K Pro.

i suppose the approach you give, of using the W2K partition, addresses the problem i'm having at the XP side--of 'downloading' certain files. (i was successful with the two-stage downloading process that installs Adobe Acrobat Reader--so the XP download program isn't entirely defective, only mostly useless!
what i have actually been doing, for any and all downloads of apps or patches or files i need is using my MacPro--to get the files of this Windows stuff, and copy them to a 2GB flash drive, and download this at the XP side of the PC. This works OK.

i'm still trying to figure out why i can't download everything in the usual straightforward way into XP. Any thoughts?

i'm new to this site, i assume i'm replying, thanks, to ninjaricer

here's a copy of your forum post, to me:

NinjaRicer Alright, let's do it this way. Boot into your Windows 2000 partition, and download the files from the links below. They are straight from the Asus site and I have uploaded them for your convenience.

    thanks again;
now before trying to import the files into XP, i need to know,
when i import those files you gave me 3 links for, they're zipped.
they should be imported to XP compressed?

i notice that in a test, where i used your link to get a zipped audio driver,
when i try to unzip it, i get this warning,
    "Archive Utility" --unable to unarchive
    [Realtek_Audio_V51005804_V6015804.zip] into "Desktop".

this makes me wonder if this file will work right when i move it to the XP with a flash drive!

when i test (un-compress, or expand, using whatever the Mac util is, probably "stuffit") each of the other two downloaded "driver" zipped files, this places folders on the desktop; these folders have all kinds of "exe" and "ini" files and folders in them.

Specifically, when i use your link for the video driver,
the Intel_Graphics folder that is placed on the desktop contains
    two folders--one called 32bit, the other 64bit.

NEW question: i just assume this XP Pro(the CD sports "Version 2002" in the hologram!) that i bought is 32BIT, but i don't know this for sure. if it's the Pro version, and 2002, it is 32-bit, right??

do i even need to know this? at this point i'm don't understand how the driver installation works. if the XP software wizard automatically detects and installs the right driver files, then it will know whether to choose the 32 or 62 bit driver file.

i'm in a confused state--only a bit of fear that i'll corrupt the XP OS if i just haul these zipped (or expanded) files in to it, using the device mgr's driver detect /update/install wizard--which i suppose can be directed to look on the flash drive to sift through all these choices.

    gee, thanks . . . i think.
