Fix Windows Vista slow shutdown due to a problem with managed services (KB943412)

Fix Windows Vista slow shutdown due to a problem with managed services (KB943412)
This update to the .NET Framework 2.0 targets the Microsoft Windows Vista™ Operating System. This is an enhancement to provide additional support for managed services that do not manage their own service state during shutdown.

The Vista™ Operating system can experience delays during shutdown if running a managed service that was designed with a ServiceBase.OnShutdown method that does not explicitly call the ServiceBase Stop() method on system shutdown. This update facilitates quicker system shutdown by explicitly setting the service state to stopped after calling their OnShutdown, if the service has not already called the Stop() method.

For startup, yes there are 2 built-in Windows tools you can use to enable/disable apps and services from running at startup:

    MSConfig and Services.msc.

I also have a favorite app that claims to 'speed' up boot process...till today, I'm still not sure how it does it...more info coming up over the next few days...

P.S. I also have a few registry tweaks to make shut-down faster...but as usual these tweaks don't work for everyone and there is an element of 'risk' when using them...if anyone's interested...I'll post it on another day...cause I'm going off to sleep now.

I do know about that, it doesn't help much. I'm curious to know if there's any fix, since that is one of my worries on my system.

I know it's old but like I have said earlier:

This info is intended for those of you who might have disabled automatic updates on Vista....
I did...and I only found this 'accidentally' yesterday...
