    Uh... yeah.

Seriously Lunarwolf, if you didn't enter something yourself, it's spam and scam. Especially when it asks for employment, age, and sex, and you didn't even sign up.

I didn't reply. I was 99.9% sure it was a scam. I just had to ask.

Looks like I can spot a scam.

By the way, £ 1,000,000.00 is A LOT of CASH. Wish it was real but since when do people become so "generous" especially I didn't enter anything.

Whenever i check my yahoo id, i get heaps of scam mails saying that an ancestor of me from singapore has left me a huge money... But i am sure enough that none of my ancestors ever visited foreign countries. I always when i see them.

Geeks never die. They just go Offline.

If you look at the email that was used to send scam/spam mails, it already looks "fake"

Ok....this might be a stupid question....but what harm can be done if i reply with the above details....i mean i'm not giving any of my bank or financial details......and most of the above details can also be easily obtained from your social networking site....right or am i missing something here...??

Data harvesting I presume? I don't really know... The only thing that differs from each spam i receive is the amount, the currency and the benefactor. You have a point there. I thought hacking social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter is easy. It should be chickenfeed for them.

You're missing something here. In almost every country that Coca-Cola runs out of, that is, that they make it and run contests and whatnot, it's illegal to ask those questions for a giveaway.

Also, Gender, Age, and Employment tells the spammer if it's worth milking you for your money or not.

If you replied Female,18,Information Technology, there's a damned good chance you know it's spam so for him, it's not worth it.

If you replied Male,81,Retired.... I can't help but think that the scammer would be more willing to milk you for what you're worth, since most times, older people (up there in older people), aren't as wise when it comes to scams.

I'm not saying this is always the case... but that's often how they make sure they can get some money from you. After all, that's all spammers and scammers want: easy money.

rnbv424140, the problem with them for a spammer/scammer is that they can get locked down easily these days, so it's harder for them to get your info. If you try looking up my Facebook account, you can't see anything that I don't let you see. Makes sense?

That's what the spammers go after, according to many different studies. The other thing is that it helps narrow down how much they could get from you as well. If you're 81, you're on your pension, meaning limited funds. If you're in your 30s, you're in a job (hopefully) and should make enough to make it worth skimming.

Then again, I'm quoting studies I've read in PC magazines.
