Confused stopped system restore after 24 hours

The laptop was taking forever to install fingerprint software. So i stopped the install. After .countless times to use recovery manager i reverted to Restore points

After about 24 hours of the message that "Windows was preparing to restore my system. I ran CCleaner to see the registry damage and there were all kinds of reg errors. The PC starts fine but takes forever to install and uninstall things Had trouble installing uninstalling KIS9 some software for my nephew and a update but the update finally just went through

You think i trashed the registry. I restored the reg with CCleaner but the same errors appear. Mainly net 32 framework shared or missing Dll. I'd take a screen print but do not know how to take one that you could scroll through the errors
I also just noticed that msxml 4.0 SP2 is present but not Sp1 is this important

I am aout to the point of a complete recovery with the disks. but wanted to ask for opinions first

Sounds like System Restore trashed the PC... the only thing I could suggest this time would be a wipe and reload... but others might have better suggestions.

Make sure to back up your important data before you do so though.

is there a way to test system restore in vista. I read to create aa test file then a reestore point named test. Then restore and the folder shoulld be gone and it wasn't. but i got a message that the restore worked. noy much to back up really just when i get a freebie i save that exe file since the two are paired and that creates very lil space

but i will keep in mind that others amy help more THANKS Hellnoire. you are a good buddy as far as far as the net goes anyway lol

Did you do the System Restore in Safe Mode? If not, try that...

If all else fails, then a reformat is the best option...
