Firefox: How to NOT have saved User/Pass displayed while logging in

    Hey All,

First post and its a good one... I searched the forum and couldn't find anything, so forgive me if Im not the first asking this question:

In Firefox, is there a mod code for the javascript 'nsLoginManagerPrompter.js' (or any other way) where a saved Username and Password would not automatically be displayed while logging in to a website?

    Thanks again!
    M

    P.S. Great Forum

    Howdy Mari.D,

I don't save any of my passwords, so I'm not sure if this is in the right direction.
There is a discussion here that involves editing the userchrome file or a jar file:

Hey thanks for the response Dorkiss,

If Im not mistaken, I believe that thread is geared towards removing the 'Show Password' feature in the Firefox security window. All Im looking for is to not have my saved login info 'pop-up' while entering it in a website.

e.g. In a website login, begin typing in "abc..." and my email "abcdefg@hotmail.com" pops-up along with my password.

I appreciate the help very much though, thank you...

That would be a feature called Auto Complete, if I understand you correctly.

Go to Tools, Options (I'm assuming you're using Windows here), then under Privacy, use Custom Settings and uncheck Remember Search and Form History. In Firefox 3.5, you might not have to say exactly to use custom settings.

Thank you Hellnoire very much I appreciate your response,

I actually found another way that works great for me:

    in the location bar type:
    about:config

    find:
signon:rememberSignons and double-click it from true to false

Again thanks for everybody's help, I sincerely appreciate it!
    Cheers All

    Sooooo....

Although the above methods do in fact work great, what I didnt realize was it also disables the 'Remember Password For Sites' feature, and when you reactivate it the 'auto-display' for the login info reappears...

Is there any way of having the 'Remember Password For Sites' feature activated while not having Firefox 'auto-display' the login info (as mentioned above)?

    Sorry to be so confusing

I don't think Firefox is made to work that way. Their password manager is somehow flawed.
    Try this addon.
