    Is it legal?

Hi, I'm just wondering is it illegal to download music over the internet?
I read on the newspaper today, that there is a cafe owner in my country being arrested because on an inspection, the authority found some music & song that She played in Her cafe was illegal because She downloaded from the internet, and it's even illegal to play some song that she copied from A LEGAL CD that she buy on the CD store???

I honestly do download some music & songs from the internet, specially some of those Japanese songs (specially soundtracks), only because I couldn't found it to be sold on any CD store in my country along with some old songs when they still record it on tape.

And by the way, I also made a copy from many of my CD (legal CD) to be played on my car when I was driving, while the original CD was kept at home & I only play it using my stereo, so is it illegal to made a copy of it to?

If coping my own CD is illegal, I wonder about my Ipod, I download my song from CD that I convert on to it........

Thanks for any comment on this

    Regards

Depends on the laws of your country! In my country it is legal to download a movie, but illegal to upload one.

Yep... It depends on the laws of your country..
In my country, There're no such restrictions..
However, blackmarketing of upcoming movies which haven't been released even yet is surely punishable...
There is no best that cannot be bettered.

May be since I've not seen any such case here, if any, then blackmarketing would also have been included there...

Copying a CD that you BOUGHT for personal purposes isnt illegal. Copying CDs and selling them on or giving them alway to the public

Downloading music is illegal but everyone does it.. it is VERY hard and costly to track down everyone who has downloaded music and punish them for it so the government dont bother
