Hello everyone!

I'm interested in buying a scanner (for home use, nothing fancy) but I'm not sure how to go about buying it and what are the specifications I should keep in mind. The scanner would be used primarily for scanning text and photos (not in bulk). My budget is about US $ 80. Also, I intend to interface it with my HP printer (black and white) to have a xerox machine at home. Can someone point to a guide which provides steps to combine a printer and a scanner to obtain a xerox machine?

Also, it would be great if people can share their experiences in using different scanners!
