Windows 7 Home – Taskbar & Start Menu Problems
Hi everyone, this is my first post and I am new to this forum, please be nice to me
I just bought a new Acer Aspire 5745G laptop which comes with Windows 7 Home OS. Long words short, when I right click the MSN on the taskbar and click on the online status (say, to busy) or sign off, instead of functioning properly, a window “C:\WINDOWS\system32” comes out. This happens on the taskbar, same problem occurs on the programs that I pin at the Start Menu.
Did anyone encounter the same problem before? Can anyone here please help me. I will very much appreciate any input.
**Edit: I restored everything to factory default but the problem still exists. I also scanned with Malwarebytes' and nothing happened.

It might have been a shortcut to install it... but that seems rather odd.

Like it might have been a link to IE to download and install it. That's what I mean.

Let me try to explain again. When I right click on the MSN on the taskbar and left click on the "Busy" status, folder C:\WINDOWS\system32 pops up. Is that possible the registry problem? If so, how do I fix that. Thank you in advance.

Dear hellnoire & ceyfer,
Thank you very much for your time and inputs!
I found the solution, apparently it was the 3rd party shell extensions that caused the jump list problem.
