uncapping cable and dsl modem

i have come across a few posts claiming that cable modem speeds can be modified ,is that true?how can we do it? also there are a few posts claiming that dsl speed can be modified too but most of the posters deny, i want to know the facts!!
i know this is punishable offense and im not asking to do all this uncapping just for knowledge ( trust me )

It`s nonsense ,you will only get the speed your ISP provides

The only thing I'd like to add is that if you did actually get a speed boost by modifying your router/modem, your ISP would know and disconnect you. So you could enjoy your speed for about... ten seconds before they ban you for life.
