    Angry 32bit in 64bit?

my friend bought this new laptop 4GB RAM and of course 64bit windows 7, so i went there and installed few softwares for him. All the softwares i installed were like 32bit only. And in the taskmanager it shows there are 32bit process running...Is it bad?is it bad using 32bit software in 64bit windows, does it slow down the PC.

P.S: his system is very slow indeed but he's got a original mcafee license for 15months, should he keep it?...

Nope...it doesn't harm his laptop at all. Win7 and Vista 64-bit are fully compatible with 32-bit software. As for McAfee he can keep if he wants. McAfee is not that bad.

you might download decrapifier free and portable to uninstall the most of crapware preinstalled, it is likely your friend's laptop will load faster

And if you use WinPatrolToGo, you could always remove the stuff he doesn't need in Startup.

I personally do not like McAfee , why not you use Avira , Avest freeware or Avira Premium

Couldn't agree more...most people i have talked to don't like McAfee, and have removed it straight away..at the moment im running windows 7 pro and so far all the applications are 32 bit...and perform without a hitch...i was initially disappointed with xp mode as it was 16 bit color depth but managed to make it 23 bit so even that looks a bit more polished
As mentioned by leofelix pc decrapifier is a handy little tool...

PC Decrapifier is good but if you can manually identify which stuff/software are crap...go for Revo Uninstaller and use that to remove them instead.

And there's always CCleaner if you don't wish to use WinPatrolToGo...

And if your friend isn't the 'techie' type, I wouldn't suggest using Avira unless he can react to the alerts (or you can tech him to)...if you install Avira, make sure you remove the ad that comes with it (I did install it for a friend...forgot to remove the ad...and was annoyed by it). In any case, giving him Avast would be a good alternative option.

Whatever you do - be sure to ask him first...some users feel comfortable with a particular brand and may not wish to waste their free license (McAfee in this case).

P.S. Adding CleanMem to the PC may help too....
