    Cool New to Win7, about old registry tricks

    Hey all, I was using XP for a long time ago, a month ago I installed Win7 and it's going to be my new main OS.
    I used to apply some registry settings to XP, now i see they don't always work. Yeah, expected, but i still try.

    First, I used to check my connection for "errors":
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Network\Connections\StatMon]
    "ShowLanErrors"=dword:00000001
    I learnt it from Raymond, now when i try to apply it in this OS, nothing happens.
    Can anyone try it to see if it works or
    can anyone look it in gpedit and if you find can you tell me which registry key it changes?
    Thanks a lot

    edit: i use home premium so i dont have gpedit installed :/

    Hi faustin im not mad about windows 7 i like it, there are more security features in windows 7 and rights managemet, it's a different beast to hacking xp and Vista.... the os is stable and runs really well and for the first time Microsoft are moving in the right direction...i have tried quite a few in xp and not all worked if any .......Raymond reffered to a file you could download for xp and Vista and is in the archives.. and i didn't read or see if he tried it in windows 7 or not ... im sure some-one could fill you in with more information for network errors and windows 7

    Have a great day

    Hi faustin,

    So I have downloaded Raymond's .reg zip file and also I have tried to manually add the new dword value and I can confirm that both method work under my Win7Ult. I am not sure if there can be some difference between ultimate and home versions but have you tried to reboot after you add the registry value?

    I think the trick would work with Pro and Ultimate versions only....I've tried this on my Vista Home Premium (have yet to reinstall Win7) and nothing shows up.
