How many times have you reformat your hard disk?

This past year I've done it 7 times. I am pleased to reformat my hard disk (sometimes just because of trivial matters, for example there is a software that messed up), because after that i felt my computer like new again. I do not like to make a backup and then restore my computer. Am I weird?

I format my hard disks once a month after ensuring that I've backed up all my important data. Trust me, formatting hard disks regularly ensures a healthier computer than one running too many tuning utilities.

However, now I'm on Linux and I don't feel the need to format at all. There are no infections, no hogging, no problems.

Over the course of the past two years, twice times. And only four times for the server. Might make it five if I decide to throw Arch on the server. Not sure if I will or not yet.

I've stopped "formatting" my computer for years already.
What I do now when I want to have the new computer feel again is to simply restore the image which I've created and it takes only 2-3 minutes.
Windows 7 has a built-in tool for that, or else you can go with Norton Ghost, Acronis and etc...

Like Raymond, I prefer to use system images to restore my PC. It is a quick way to put things back to normal, when something goes amiss with a software I am experimenting with.

I used to format my hard disk 7 - 8 times per day . Yes this is true . I was totally newbie. At that time I had Windows ME and good internet connection & no good anti virus so used to make my pc infected. So after that need to format. That incident took place around 7 - 8 years ago . But after that everything seems to be ok . Once in every 6 months .
I don't need to know everything, I just need to know where to find it, when I need it.

For me i hate to format but because of my younger bro i have to format my system in 3 months earlier , now i installed a dual boot win 7 on my system 1 OS for me and another for my younger bro .Actually he used lots of pen drives and install lots of video convertors , and access pendrives without scanning them , this time finally i warned him if i have to reformate his os then i won't allow him to access system . so no issue .
