Mozilla will address the increasing consumption of memory Firefox

The company Mozilla, creator of the visitors DSL.sk yet still the most popular web browser Firefox, begins to actively address the intense too high memory consumption of this particular browser since version 4.0 but also in previous versions.

Mozilla created MemShrink initiative, under which developers will seek to reduce memory consumption and in particular by removing the first stage of memory leaks.

Will not only focus on the real memory leaks, memory which is permanently lost, but also for its effective re-release already removing unnecessary objects.

Mozilla also plans to improve the automated tools for measuring memory consumption and detection of its release and also begin to send more information about memory consumption in the telemetry data from the browsers of users involved in the project of sending data on the use of a browser.

The next phase is calculated with the optimization of data structures with respect to memory consumption.

Reduce memory consumption by the Mozilla reflected positively on the speed and stability of the browser, specifically improving the performance of mobile Firefox built on the same code as the PC version.

Developers involved in the initiative will meet regularly once a week, the first meeting will take place today. According to an estimate by Mozilla's initiative could bring significant results for the quarter to semester.

Oh, finally. It isn't much of a problem on more modern computers with around 4GB of RAM, but it's still a problem that they should have addressed years ago, when 2GB was the standard.
