Windows Blue Screen Error Viever (BSOD)

BlueScreenView scans all your minidump files created during 'blue screen of death' crashes, and displays the information about all crashes in one table. For each crash, BlueScreenView displays the minidump filename, the date/time of the crash, the basic crash information displayed in the blue screen (Bug Check Code and 4 parameters), and the details of the driver or module that possibly caused the crash (filename, product name, file description, and file version).
For each crash displayed in the upper pane, you can view the details of the device drivers loaded during the crash in the lower pane. BlueScreenView also mark the drivers that their addresses found in the crash stack, so you can easily locate the suspected drivers that possibly caused the crash.

I don't want to speak too soon. ...but! I haven't seen the BSOD for a long time now. Not even on my old XP machine, which gets used and abused everyday.

BlueScreenView has been mentioned many times in the forums and there's also an article on the blog as tangomouse pointed out. Thanks anyway.

Maybe we should have a poll to see if anybody still get BSOD. I haven't seen one in, must be 3 years or more.

Yeah you're a bit late, was a good article. The last BSoD I got was due to dodgy RAM and I got that sorted.

BSoDs are often caused by drivers and either glitches in them or just bad drives in general, like ones installed by viruses that are poorly coded or just poorly made ones in general. Normally manufacturers get them officially signed which keeps most bad ones out, and you'd have to give explicit permission for a dodgy one that isn't signed to be installed.

Or they could be as a result of dead or dying hardware as in my case.
