What do you guys suggest to check out your hard drive? Seems like mine has kind of slowed down and I would hate foe it to just up and die on me. Thanks.

I have used these programs in the past and they do a great job.
Hitachi Drive Fitness Test(DFT)- Good third-party utility that can be used with most hard drives and supports the option to create a bootable CD image.

Seagate SeaTools- Fantastic and free program that is used to test all computer hard drives.

May want to try one of these tools.
Linux Distro at the moment Fedora 17 / Firefox 12.0

I would also recommend Seagate SeaTools +1 . Nice application .
I don't need to know everything, I just need to know where to find it, when I need it.

I ran the Seagate and it said S.M.A.R.T. Failed. Does that mean bad drive or it was not able to scan?

You should make sure you have a backup before running these hard drive testing tools.
They will put some stress on the hard drive and if it is about to fail, it may fail during the tests.
