Copying recovery partion
Hi all,
Recently my my laptop failed to boot and I discovered the cause was a hard disk failure. I got another hard disc but the laptop(HP G62) did not come with any recovery discs and did not allow for the creation of any. The problem am having right now is how do I copy the recovery partition from the old hdd to the new one in a way that would allow me to use the F11 function. I already used Easeus partition master to copy the recovery partition directly to the new hdd but when I install it to the laptop and press F11 it shows no boot device found. I tried installing cracked windows 7 on the new hdd making sure I the recovery partition was left intact . Would appreciate any suggestions as to how I can do this as I really cant afford to buy a windows CD
Thanks in advance

Have a look first on the HP forums and ask for help there, how old is your laptop and do you have any of the warranty period left... the recovery partition is a joke and a waste of space, depending when you bought your laptop it may still be covered... im not sure when seven was available Oct 2009 maybe, so you could miss on the warranty but there is no reason you shouldn't be helped out by HP or where you bought your laptop.
If the hard drive hadn't died you could have used a small program called ABR and any iso of the same release that was on your laptop.

I'd rather be fishing!
If you were able to use Easeus Partition Master to copy the recovery partition over to the new disk, what you could try is cloning the entire old HDD to the new HDD. That should add the MBR as well as your Windows OS to the new drive and hopefully make it bootable.

i wasn't quite sure if the disk was dead or not Bear, a clean iso and ABR on a usb stick would be my choice

Thanks all for the suggestions:
Already tried the cyberlink recovery suite but it says recovery can not be performed from hard disk. The only partition that I can copy from the old hdd is the recovery partition. Contacted Hp but I would have to order from the US site as the Nigerian office 'does not handle software related issues'. The problem with ordering apart from the cost is that the last time I ordered recovery discs I was sent discs in a language I cant even identify how much more understand. May be tangomouse would remember the batch file later if not I would most definitely be using the windows 7 crack
